The head teacher of a local primary school in Newport is looking to appoint a teaching assistant to work with their reception, year 1 and year 2 classes and support the children who need extra assistance in the classroom. The main objective will be ensuring the children are all on task and understand the work set for them, encouraging them to participate.

The school is located in Newport close to the M4 so it is close to public transport links and easily accessible. There are outstanding facilities at the school meaning a positive learning environment for the children and a happy teaching environment for the staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in primary schools is desirable but not essential
  • Any experience working with children, in care or with children with SEN will be considered
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s graded A* - C
  • Enhanced child only DBS check (assistance will be provided)

Training such as safeguarding, team teach, autism awareness and other relevant CPD courses are offered to enhance your training and understanding of the role, enabling the right candidate to succeed in the school.

Pay will be between GBP285 to GBP300 per week. There is potential for the right candidate to go onto the school’s permanent contract.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
