Primary Teacher
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
A school in Spennymoor have been in touch with Teaching Personnel as they need a new Year 5 teacher to start on 23 November February half-term initially, but will be reviewed and extended on a half-termly basis.
The class is currently being taken by 2 teachers in a job share, but the school have decided that the students would be better served by having one teacher take the class. The current class teacher is off on long-term sickness but is not likely to return until 2021, so the role will be extended on a half-termly basis until at least February half-term. The role will be full-time with PPA time allocated as per any class teacher role. The school is 3 form entry and rated as GOOD by Ofsted in their most recent inspection in 2018.
The school primarily want a teacher with an energetic and engaging classroom presence, who can keep the class focused and concentrated on the task at hand. Behaviour at the school is largely good, and the SLT believe this is because an upbeat and energetic classroom presence is the most effective means of keeping their behaviour under control. Knowledge of the KS2 curriculum is also extremely important for the school, as the school has identified that there is a drop off in progress in the non-assessed KS2 year groups. Mentoring would be provided by the Deputy who, without being in a job share in the class, would be able to provide support where necessary. The school would still however prefer a fully qualified teacher for this role, rather than an NQT.
If you fulfil the requirements for this role, then we invite you to apply by sending an up-to-date CV detailing your previous roles and the responsibilities that came with them. The head will select a few candidates and then from there arrange interviews, before arranging handover sessions when possible.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
