Job description

Functional Skills Tutor – Nottingham (NG9)

Are you passionate about helping learners build essential English and Maths skills for everyday life and future employment? We are looking for a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition to students in Nottingham (NG9), helping them gain confidence and achieve meaningful progress.

This rewarding role focuses on supporting learners who need additional help with Functional Skills English and/or Maths, helping them develop practical skills that will support their education, work, and independence.


✨ The Role

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 Functional Skills tuition in English and/or Maths
  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical learning sessions
  • Support learners in developing real-life literacy and numeracy skills
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
  • Track student progress and help them work towards Functional Skills qualifications

 What We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths
  • Good understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and assessments
  • Ability to create engaging and practical learning activities
  • patient, supportive, and motivating approach to learning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
