Job description

Are you a nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming and inclusive primary schools within the Salford area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a child’s early education journey.

About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assisting with classroom activities, learning tasks, and transitions.
  • Supporting children with needs such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and social/emotional needs.
  • Helping to implement EHCPs and individual learning plans.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, calm, and committed to inclusive education.
  • Observant and able to respond to individual needs sensitively.
  • Reliable, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing classroom dynamics.
  • Experienced in working with children in an educational or care setting (preferred but not essential).

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A valid Enhanced DBS for both Child and Adult Workforce, registered on the Update Service.
  • Two professional references from the past two years, ideally from education or childcare settings.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive.
  • Safeguarding training (Provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
