Teaching Personnel are currently seeking an intake of graduates for several Primary Schools in South East London, who are seeking enthusiastic graduates interested in intervention and support roles in schools - helping raise attainment levels of pupils struggling with a subject! You would be working alongside the class teacher helping pupils who struggle to reach required levels in topics such as Maths, English, and Science.

This is a great way to gain experience ahead of a PGCE application, and many of the schools interested in graduates also participate in the Schools Direct Scheme - meaning it's a great opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching!
Experience/Qualifications Required for Support Staff Positions
Minimum
* experience of working with children
* GCSEs (A* to C) in English and mathematics (how can they support literacy and numeracy otherwise)
Desirable Additional Degrees/Qualifications and Awards in childcare or youth work, e.g.
* Early Childhood Studies / Childhood Studies
* Foundation Degrees in Education
* Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
* Support Work in Schools
* Special Educational Needs
* Child Development
* Childcare and Education
* Early Years
* Childcare & Early Years
* Language / Speech Therapy
* Core Subjects Maths, English, Science, Humanities, Languages
* Sport Coach
* NVQ level 3 / Cache Level 3
* Nursery Nurse Qualifications (great for EYFS and Year 1 and Nurture groups)
* First Aid Qualifications
Desirable Experience:
* Working in nursery or education settings
* Experience of working with Special Educational Needs - Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Speech Language and Communication
* Previous volunteering within education or working with children
Candidates need:
* the ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
* the ability to cope with challenging behaviour
* a professional attitude to work
* a strong regard for pupil safety and well-being
* a positive approach to working with children and the ability to motivate, inspire and build rapport;
* respect for diversity as you will be working with pupils from a range of backgrounds;
* excellent team working ability as you'll be working with other support staff, classroom teachers and other professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and social workers, parents, careers and external agencies;
* good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly
You must also be in possession of a Child Workforce DBS (registered on the Update Service) or willing to apply for one
