Inspire Excellence. Shape Future Leaders in Sport.

An outstanding and highly sought-after opportunity has arisen for an exceptional A Level Physical Education Teacher to join our thriving independent school in Cardiff.

This is not a general PE role. This is a specialist Key Stage 5 position, teaching academically ambitious 16–18-year-olds who are driven to achieve A* grades and secure places at leading UK and international universities.

Our students are passionate, high-performing and intellectually curious. They don’t just love sport — they want to understand it at the highest academic level.

We are seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and ambitious PE specialist who can deliver first-class teaching across the theoretical and practical elements of A Level Physical Education, inspiring students who aspire to careers in sport science, physiotherapy, elite performance, sports law and beyond.

The Role

You will:

  • Deliver engaging, academically rigorous A Level PE lessons (Key Stage 5 only)
  • Teach advanced topics including physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology and performance analysis
  • Stretch and challenge A*/A calibre students to achieve outstanding examination results
  • Prepare students for competitive university applications and future careers in sport
  • Plan high-quality, research-informed lessons tailored to high-achieving learners
  • Contribute to parents’ evenings and academic progress meetings
  • Play an active role in extra-curricular sport and enrichment provision

This is an opportunity to work with motivated, respectful and driven learners who thrive on challenge and intellectual debate.

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • Varied hours between 08:45am and 17:30pm

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • PGCE in Physical Education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching PE up to Key Stage 5 (A Level)
  • Outstanding subject knowledge and passion for sport science
  • Confidence teaching high-ability, academically focused students
  • A commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom

Desirable:

  • Track record of delivering A*/A outcomes at A Level
  • Experience supporting students into competitive sport-related degree pathways
  • Experience working within a high-performing or independent school environment

What We Offer

  • Salary in line with the Welsh framework (from M2 £172.98 per day through to Upper Pay Scale)
  • The rare opportunity to teach exclusively at A Level
  • Talented, aspirational students who genuinely want to succeed
  • A professional, supportive and forward-thinking independent school environment
  • The chance to play a key role in developing future leaders in sport and academia

This is a prestigious and highly desirable role for an ambitious PE specialist who wants to teach at the highest academic level and work with exceptional young people striving for excellence.

If you are passionate about elite academic Physical Education and want to be part of a school that celebrates ambition, performance and success — we would love to hear from you.
