A secondary school in Preston (PR2) are seeking a Pastoral Support Mentor to start as soon as possible.

This role will involve, but is not limited to, providing focused support to targeted pupils to raise achievement and attendance, and to help them to overcome barriers to learning, including nurture groups. This will require you to undertake assessments and to develop individual action plans for targeted pupils. You may also be required to resolve relationship issues between pupils where necessary.

On occasions, the role will involve overseeing support packages for pupils reintegrati8ng into school following periods of exclusion/ absence.

Job Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in relevant subject
  • Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
  • Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and assist pupils
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

The school is Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ in all areas. It has been highlighted that leaders identify needs of pupils with SEN quickly and effectively, and pupils with SEND access all curriculum subjects alongside their peers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
