Part Time Supply: SEN teaching assistant, South East London

I currently work with SEN schools in the South East London area, including Peckham, Beckenham and Croydon. They regularly require staff to work for them on an ad hoc basis to cover sickness, courses, trips and other planned absences. Make a real difference to the students who are most in need.

The schools that I work with are purpose built for children with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. They also cater for students with moderate to severe autism including those who are non-verbal communicators.

If you have experience from working within SEN education or the care sector and are looking for a new opportunity, I would love to hear from you! However, this type of role is also suitable for recent graduates or people looking to gain some experience of working within SEN education as a learning support assistant for the first time.

You may be asked to provide personal care for students, which includes assistance with feeding and toileting. You will be working in a classroom of up to 10 students, supporting the class teacher and working cooperatively with up to 3 other teaching assistants.

You will build your experience and skills quickly, and can use this opportunity as an ideal stepping stone if you are planning to go onto teacher training or further study within Psychology, Sociology, speech and language therapy or occupational therapy or special educational needs.
