Parent and Family Support Advisor – Taunton
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Contract Type: Full-time position
Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and proactive Parent and Family Support Advisor to join one of our partner schools in Taunton. This is a rewarding full-time role, supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning and ensure every young person can thrive both inside and outside of school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding, family engagement, and early intervention—working closely with pupils, parents, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes and consistent attendance. You’ll act as a trusted link between home and school, providing advice, guidance, and practical support for families.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and students to promote engagement and wellbeing.
- Offering early intervention, advice, and guidance to help overcome barriers to learning.
- Acting as the lead contact for families receiving additional support and maintaining consistent communication.
- Coordinating and implementing tailored action plans and interventions.
- Supporting families to access external services and community resources where needed.
- Working collaboratively with school staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
- Conducting home visits and supporting attendance and reintegration when appropriate.
- Maintaining accurate records of interventions and progress reports.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children, families, or within an educational or social care setting.
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in education, social work, or family support is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and families.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience working with multi-agency networks.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassion, patience, and resilience in supporting young people facing challenges.
- A DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
