Role: Mental Health Youth Support Worker

Location: Birmingham City Centre, easily commutable by public transport.

A secondary school in Birmingahm is looking for a Youth Mental Health Support Worker to join its team to provide support for both academic and emotional needs. The school is homed to children of all background, from ages 11-16 and they are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate to work on a 1:1 basis with a group of their students.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for the students.

• Providing 1:1 and small group support.

• Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).

• Building strong relationships with students to establish trust and rapport.

• Promoting positive behaviour management techniques and strategies.

• Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to support student learning.

• Creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where students can thrive academically and emotionally.

• Monitoring and recording student progress.

 

Qualifications:

 

While no specific qualifications may be required for this role, having a background in education, psychology, or related fields can be advantageous. A genuine passion for helping students with SEMH needs achieve their full potential is a very important quality we look for, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt the unique needs of each student. Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

• Leading pay rates of £85 to £95 per day, paid weekly.

• Permanent offer will become available after a successful temporary period.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
