Mental Health Support Mentor
Job description
As a Mental Health Support Mentor, you’ll deliver excellent support to young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs in an alternative education provision in Northumberland. The pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supports students’ day to day transition back into mainstream education, with a focus on a child-centred and trauma informed approach. Your job would be to work 1-1 and in small groups under direction of the teacher to encourage, motivate and support students through their education. Students under this provision come from a wide range of backgrounds and display challenging behaviour resulting from complex SEMH/SEN needs so resilience, empathy and understanding are key to the role.
This role is a great opportunity for those with relevant experience such as:
- Those from a background in education, care or the support of vulnerable people.
- Graduates from Psychology, Criminology, Sociology.
- Educators wanting to gain SEN/SEMH experience
Pay between up to £500 per week, experience dependent.
You will need to have suitable references and a DBS certificate (or be eligible to apply).
If you are interested in this role, please apply today with your updated CV and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss the role further.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
