Maths Teaching Assistant Required

My client is a Community Special School for pupils aged 5 – 16 years. The school caters for pupils with a combination of ‘Behaviour and Learning’ and a percentage of primary pupils with ‘Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties’

Pupils with behaviour and learning needs have further associated behaviour difficulties such as ADHD, adolescent psychiatric problems, attachment disorder issues and challenging behaviour. The SEMH pupils have similar identified needs but are functioning at a higher academic level. Over a third of pupils have Autistic Spectrum Condition as an identified need as part of their needs profile.

The school has an impressive building and specialist rooms and resources which include a Sports Hall, ICT Suite and Specialist rooms for Design & Technology, Science, Art, Music and Food Technology.

The school is looking for either a Teaching Assistant or Maths Graduate looking to develop a career in education. The role will be to shadow the class teacher providing additional support and working 1:1 with pupils providing support in Maths for Key Stages 3 and 4.

Ideal candidates will have the 1 or two of the following:

•Strong Maths background

•Mathematics Graduate

•Team Teach/SKIP, CPI, MAPA Physical Intervention Training

•Experience supporting challenging behaviour within an out of school setting

•Emotionally Robust
