A single sex school secondary school in the central Manchester area is looking for an effective Maths teacher to join them following the October half term until the May half term (i.e. effectively for 2 terms). This is to cover a Maths teacher who is due to take planned leave for an operation. This single sex Manchester based secondary school is highly regarded having been graded as outstanding in its most recent Ofsted report and is an integral part of the local community.

The Senior Management Team at this school have been praised for being supportive of all staff and being highly considered in the area, works with other schools closely to ensure students are given the best education. The successful Maths teacher should consider themselves a subject specialist who is an excellent classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management skills. Given the diverse community served, the school is keen to appoint a Maths teacher who is able to engage students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Key aspects of this Maths teaching position:

  • Full time Maths teacher required: Monday 28th October 2019 - Friday 22nd May 2020
  • Pay dependent upon experience and in line with the new 2019/2020 payscale (approx. £23800- £39500)
  • Operational Maths cover required: full planning and marking responsibilities will be included as part of this Maths teaching position
  • Teach within a successful and reputable single sex secondary school in the central Manchester area

The successful Mathematician is required on a full time basis starting at the end of October and will be expected to take on all planning and marking responsibilities as well as any additional inter-departmental responsibilities.

This secondary school is situated in the central Manchester area, a short walk away from the local metrolink stop. The school is housed in a very large, well resourced building including a fully equipped Maths department with smart boards in each classroom and working space including app based tablets.

Whilst the school is rated as outstanding, the school is always keen to ensure teachers are effective within the classroom, and given the location in the inner city area, effective behaviour management strategies are paramount for the successful Maths teacher. The school is extremely supportive with a fully staffed internal pastoral team who support across all subjects especially Maths (Science and English).
