Literacy Intervention Specialist

A secondary school located in the education authority of Trafford is looking for a Literacy Intervention specialist to start with them in September 2019. Working under the SENCO and Head of English, the successful Literacy specialist will be supporting students aged 11 - 16 years old across the ability range. Students who are behind their peers with regards all aspects Literacy including grammar, spelling, reading and writing will be supported by the successfully appointed Literacy Intervention specialist.

Any English or related subject graduates looking for a role in the education sector are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.

The SENCO and Assistant Head Teacher said of the role:

"The role would be working with small groups of pupils in Years 7 - 11 who require additional assistance and support. In addition to this, there would also be some literacy intervention work with low ability pupils in Key Stage 3. Schemes of work are planned for the successful applicant to follow but we need an English specialist to deliver them. This would be for the duration of the new academic year, September 2019 - July 2020".

Highlights of this Literacy/English Intervention position:

  • Pay ranging between £300 - 350 per week depending on experience
  • Based within the school's library; the successful English Specialist will work with students supporting in the various specific areas
  • Full time, English graduate required to start in September
  • Applications encouraged from core subject graduates, previous experienced TAs or individuals looking to work in the education sector
  • Teach at an 'Outstanding' secondary school within the borough of Trafford

This secondary school has a great reputation in the Manchester and Greater Manchester area, being an outstanding graded school. The school is set in fantastic grounds split across a couple of buildings on site giving it a campus style feel which sets students up ready to take on higher education.

The school is situated in the Trafford LEA which is serviced by the relatively new Metrolink travelling from the city centre, through Chorlton and down to Sale. The school is set in very pleasant surroundings with a residential area immediately around the school and a large on site car park for all staff.
