Teaching Personnel are working with a Special School in Bradford, who are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant this September. The school provides education for pupils aged 11-19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism, Physical Disabilities and Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
The school is situated in the Manningham area of Bradford and benefits from a Senior Leadership team who are working to take the school from Good to Outstanding over the next academic year.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have a flexible approach and a genuine passion for making a positive difference to the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs. You will ideally have previous experience of supporting pupils within a specialist setting, although we welcome applications from those with a background in health and social care. In addition to supporting access to the curriculum, you will also be required to meet the social, emotional and mental health needs of pupils, including assisting with personal care and providing lunchtime supervision. Some pupils may also require support with feeding or with moving around school.
Your duties will include:
- Preparing learning materials under the supervision of the teacher
- Working inside or outside the classroom with individuals or groups
- Adapting resources to meet individual pupil needs
- Providing personal care for specific students
- Creating a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment
- Keeping records and attending review meetings
- Providing feedback to teachers, pupils and parents/carers as necessary
