Learning Support Assistant (Northumberland)

A secondary school located in the Ashington area are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) starting in September. The school is ideally looking to take on a Learning Support Assistant who has previous experience in supporting within a secondary school setting. The successful Learning Support Assistant will be supporting students in year 7 - 11 with intervention in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science as applicable and most relevant for the successful Learning Support Assistant. This school is known for its academic nature and are therefore looking for a confident, adaptable and motivated graduate who has experience in supporting secondary aged students in a previous setting.

Key aspects of the LSA role:

  • Full time Learning Support Assistant required: former experience within a school environment ideal
  • Pay range dependent upon experience and qualification: up to £1250 per month
  • Provide support and intervention to year 9 - 11s in the main with opportunity to support a variety of students as required
  • Highly academic school with a large cohort of students identified as excelling students and gifted and talented
  • 1 year fixed requirement in the first instance with opportunity to progress onto a school based contract

The school have advised that they are looking for a Learning Support Assistant on a full time basis who is available 5 days per week starting in September. Ideally starting at the beginning of September any Learning Mentors, present Learning Support Assistants or Teaching Assistants are encouraged to apply now for immediate consideration. Graduates who have experience of supporting students are highly encouraged to apply now. Given the varying nature of this position, there will be opportunity to support lower ability students in year 9, 10 and 11 moving onto the higher ability students in advance of the mock exams in November and again in March/May 2020.

The school is located in Ashington and has fantastic public transport links. This highly regarded secondary school is also easy to access via A1 and A189.
