Job description

Inspire, Support, and Change Lives

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work full-time in a specialist education setting near Dorchester.

This is an immediate start role supporting pupils aged 7 to 18 who require tailored, consistent support to thrive both academically and emotionally.

This specialist provision offers a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where students are truly understood. The school places wellbeing at the heart of learning and is recognised for its supportive leadership, excellent staff collaboration, and child-centred ethos.

Students are supported with a range of needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • ADHD

  • Attachment and behavioural needs

 

Your Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support

  • Help pupils manage emotions and behaviour positively

  • Support engagement with learning activities

  • Build trusting, meaningful relationships

 

Working hours:

  • 8.45am to 3.45pm

  • Some weekday end times may vary

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN

  • Patient, empathetic, and confident supporting challenging behaviour

  • A proactive and positive attitude

  • A full UK driving licence is essential due to the school’s location

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
