SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Portsmouth - Cosham
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term-time only - full time and part time available

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within a supportive specialist SEN school in the Portsmouth (Cosham) area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

About the Role

As an SEN LSA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils

  • Assisting teachers with adapting learning activities and resources

  • Supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Encouraging and reinforcing positive behaviour strategies

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff

  • Supporting personalised learning plans to help pupils reach their full potential

About You

  • Experience working in an SEN setting is desirable but not essential

  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Flexible and proactive when supporting diverse needs

  • A genuine passion for helping young people thrive

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
