Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist School

Location: Havant and surrounding areas
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Through Teaching Personnel

About the Role
We are seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to work within SEMH specialist school settings, supporting pupils across primary and secondary age groups. This is a full-time, term-time-only position starting ASAP, based across schools in the Havant and surrounding areas, supplied through Teaching Personnel.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils

  • Support tailored learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development

  • Follow individual behaviour support plans and school policies

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)

  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine desire to make a positive impact

  • Ability to drive and travel to locations in the Havant and surrounding areas

  • An enhanced child-only DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
