Learning Mentor

Flexible Learning Mentor required for a Secondary School based on the outskirts of Wigan, Orrell.

Immediate start dates available for experienced staff members who have worked in roles supporting students of the age range 11-16 or similar. Employment for the roles will start on a temporary basis however there will be opportunity for further employment following the initial temporary period.

If you have experience working with young people, supporting with their teaching and learning across the subject board then please see the details below;

  • Temporary, flexible Learning Mentors required for a secondary school based in Wigan.
  • Previous experience working with young people within an educational capacity is highly desirable.

The incoming Learning Mentors can expect to be fully supported through CPD training programmes including; Team Teach, Becoming a Cover Supervisor, Effective Behaviour Management and Effective Differentiation for SEN Pupils.

In addition to the ability to perform the duties expected for the Learning Mentor role, an understanding of the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children will need to be demonstrated;

  • Motivation to work with young people.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people in your care.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes with all levels of learners.
  • Flexibility to implement agreed learning activities/teaching in a range of subjects across the school board.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of young people you are responsible for or come into contact with.

Located on the outskirts of Wigan town centre this school is easily accessible from the surrounding areas of Ashton-in-Makerfield, Golborne and Tyldesley via the M6 motorway. There are also direct transport links from Wigan town centre.
