Learning Mentor

A Catholic secondary school in Manchester wish to appoint Learning Mentor on a full-time basis starting in Easter 2019, until at least the end of the academic year. This exciting opportunity has become available due to a restructuring within the schools support department, with the schools Pastoral lead seeking to meet with caring, motivated and inspirational individuals at their earliest convenience.

  • Leaning Mentor - Full time post, term time only!
  • Easter 2019 start date (potential for an earlier start for the perfect candidate)
  • Potential to continue at the end of the academic year dependent on performance
  • Competitive daily rates dependent on experience (£54-£70 a day)
  • Successful and Supportive South Manchester based secondary school.

As a Learning Mentor, the ideal applicant will have experience of working and supporting young people. If successful, the incoming candidate will be responsible for supporting a number of students who are struggling with their studies through a range of different SEND issues including behaviour, emotional or social problems.

The role will include identifying and targeting students to mentor throughout the academic year who may be under performing, and offering them support both in and out of the classroom. A Learning Mentor's support should increase student self-esteem and confidence, and ultimately help students to perform to their full potential.

Experience of working with young people within an education setting is desirable but not essential, and our client school is keen on recent graduates applying who may be keen to gain experience within a school and are looking to start a career in education.

The school we are working in partnership with is a diverse leading Catholic 11 - 16 High School with 900 pupils on roll. They have a strong record of achievement leading in recent years to a number of national awards.

The school is located a short walk from the vibrant shops, bars and restaurants of Didsbury village. The school has access to excellent transport links to Manchester city centre and surrounding areas.

The school building has recently benefited from an investment of £11.2 million creating a new high specification science block, lecture theatre, sports hall, ICT suites, astro-turf pitch and reception area. The English, Maths, Art and Design technology departments were all remodelled, creating an environment that is both purposeful and inspiring.
