Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant, Bamber Bridge

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school located in Bamber Bridge. The school SENCo is looking for a Year 1 teaching assistant to provide one-to-one support to a child with special educational needs. The role is to start September 2020* and is planned to continue until July 2021 with the potential of going onto a school contract.

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work predominantly alongside a child in the Year 1 class, providing one-to-one support to enable them to access the Key Stage 1 core curriculum and assist with their speech and language needs. In addition to this, the role will require you to provide general classroom support across the Year 1 and Year 2 classes, which will include delivering small group interventions.

Working hours are from 08:30 – 15:30, Monday - Friday

Job Specification - Essential Requirements

In order to be short-listed for the position, you must have/ be the following:

-          Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or above

-          Recent experience of providing specialist support to individuals with SEN

-          Recent experience working alongside children in Key Stage 1

-          Confident with delivering small group interventions

-          Child workforce DBS on the online update service or willing to apply for a new DBS

About the School

This larger than average primary school is located in the Bamber Bridge area and services a mixed catchment area. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals is below the national average; however the number of pupils identified as having special educational needs is above average.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
