Intervention Tutor

Date posted : 10/04/19
£20 - £60 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel are often asked to supply intervention tutors for children with SEMH needs in the Manchester area.
Usually the student is currently not attending mainstream school or is attending with reduced hours due to their educational health care plan, and is required to have additional tuition in core subjects (Maths/English).

The students may currently be experiencing Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, so some challenging and volatile behaviour is to be expected. It is important for applicants to be able to remain calm and professionally manage any situations which may arise, whilst always adhering to safeguarding policies which you will be briefed on prior to starting the role.
Being able to build and maintain a respectful relationship is a key factor in helping the students to engage and focus in what you wish to teach them.

Tuition usually takes place in the students home (supervised) or in a local community building, such as a library which will be organised prior to making the booking. Own transport is a bonus but not essential if you are confident using public transport. Sessions can be from 1 to 3 hours situation depending, and pays £20 per hour.

This role is ideal for Teachers or Tutors who are looking to work reduced hours or work around a flexible timetable due to other commitments. Please be aware that you MUST have an enhanced child only DBS on the update service for this role, which can be applied for with Teaching Personnel. Any applicants from overseas who have not lived in the UK for more than 6 years MUST be able to provide an overseas criminal record check.

If you feel your skills fit this role, please apply with your up to date CV and cover letter detailing your suitability for the role.
