SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Stockport
Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time | Long-term opportunity (potential temp-to-perm)
We are currently recruiting for a resilient and compassionate SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Stockport area. This is a rewarding role supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement in learning
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SENCO to implement behaviour plans
- Support students both in the classroom and in alternative learning environments
- Help create a safe, structured and inclusive setting
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, EBD, ADHD or challenging behaviour
- Background in education, youth work, support work, care, coaching or mentoring
- Calm, patient, and confident in managing behaviour
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
