Humanities Teacher – Durham Secondary School
September 2026 start, full-time, competitive salary (MPS/UPS).
I'm recruiting a Humanities Teacher for a Durham secondary school starting September 2026. This is a full-time position teaching History, Geography, or RE across KS3 and KS4 in a school with a strong Humanities department and supportive leadership.
The school is looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm and solid subject knowledge to their classrooms. Whether you're an experienced Humanities teacher or an ECT ready to start your career, this could be a great opportunity to join a collaborative department that values good teaching.
What you'll be doing:
- Teaching your Humanities subject across KS3 and KS4
- Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
- Working collaboratively with the Humanities department
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Contributing to extracurricular activities and the wider school community
You'll need:
- QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- Degree in History, Geography, RE, or related Humanities subject
- Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level (ECTs welcome)
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for your subject
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to raising attainment and supporting student progress
