Headteacher – SEMH School (Permanent Position)

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are proud to be supporting a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton in their search for a permanent Headteacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate school leader to make a lasting impact in a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.

The successful candidate will provide strong operational and strategic leadership, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all pupils and maintaining the school’s culture of care, inclusion, and achievement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop staff to deliver outstanding teaching and learning for pupils with SEMH and SEN needs.
• Oversee day-to-day management of the school, ensuring a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
• Drive continuous school improvement and ensure high standards of behaviour, attendance, and achievement.
• Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team, governors, and external partners to meet school priorities.
• Manage budgets, resources, and staffing efficiently in line with school development goals.
• Uphold safeguarding and welfare responsibilities in accordance with statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience within an SEMH or SEN school or provision.
• Strong understanding of specialist education and inclusive practice.
• Proven ability to inspire and lead a diverse team.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

Training & Support

The school is committed to staff development and will provide additional SEMH training and ongoing professional support to help you excel in your leadership role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
