Full-Time Head of Year – Secondary School- B33, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full Time | Permanent
We are seeking an outstanding, committed, and inspirational Head of Year to join our thriving secondary school from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator and leader who is dedicated to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their school journey.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing a year group, promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance, achievement, and wellbeing, while working closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a designated year group across Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4
- Monitor student progress, attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing accurately, raising concerns to designated individuals
- Provide pastoral support and guidance to students
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers and external agencies
- Promote high expectations and a positive school culture
- Support safeguarding and student welfare procedures
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to raise achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have worked in a similar role and will have successful secondary school experience
- Have strong pastoral leadership skills and excellent communication abilities
- Be passionate about student development and inclusion
- Demonstrate resilience, organisation, and the ability to motivate young people
- Have experience managing behaviour and supporting student wellbeing
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
