Head of Maths
Contract: Fulltime, Permanent Position
Location: Bristol
Start Date: April 2025
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
A highly reputable Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an outstanding Head of Maths to join the permanent staff team of a GOOD school in Bristol from April 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious mathematics leader to drive excellence in teaching and learning within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role:
The successful candidate will lead the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching, curriculum innovation, and student outcomes. They will be responsible for developing a culture of academic success, inspiring both staff and students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and management of the Maths department
- Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student progress
- Develop and implement an engaging and challenging maths curriculum
- Lead, support, and develop a team of dedicated maths teachers
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies and interventions
- Foster a love of mathematics across all key stages
- Ensure high standards of student behaviour, engagement, and attainment
- Collaborate with senior leadership and contribute to whole-school improvement
Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in mathematics or a related subject
- Proven experience in leading or managing a successful Maths department
- A track record of improving student outcomes at KS3, KS4, and preferably KS5
- Excellent knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop both students and staff
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and aspirational learning environment
