The Head Teacher of a great secondary school in Washington has requested a great English teacher to take on the role of Head of Department, commencing in September. This role is a vacant post that has come about as a result of a resignation within the department; the successful candidate who takes on this position has the opportunity to be appointed permanently on the basis that they perform well.

To qualify for this role, candidates must:

• Be able to deliver at least one area of English to KS5
• Have experience taking on managerial responsibilities, though the candidate does not necessarily need to have been a Head of Department previously
• Substantial experience preparing students for exams, with a good success rate for high attainment
• Be flexible around planning, preparing and marking classwork
• Be willing to support other members in department, regularly meeting to ensure that departmental progress made consistently
