Graduate Teaching Assistants

Are you a recent Graduate thinking of going into teaching? Do you need experience before going on to do a teacher training programme?

Teaching Personnel are working with Secondary schools across Bury, Bolton, Wigan and Salford, aiding them in recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants for the new academic year. These positions are perfect for recent Graduates who are hoping for a future career in Secondary teaching, as it will provide experience before entering into a teacher training programme.

  • Full-time and part-time Graduate Teaching Assistants roles available from September 2019 until the end of the academic year
  • Graduates of all specialisms are welcome to apply for this position
  • Work alongside the class teacher in supporting pupils within the classroom
  • Assist students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis when withdrawn from particular subject lessons
  • Work within several Secondary schools to gain substantial experience prior to beginning teacher training
  • Dependent on previous experience, earn up to £300 per week

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant within our client schools, responsibilities will include working alongside children who require additional support with the possibilities of some students displaying challenging behaviour or having learning difficulties. Other responsibilities will include working with the class teacher to support the class, as well as covering their absence when needed. This experience will boost future opportunities for teacher training applications and may result in a direct school placement, depending on success.

  • Working 1:1 with identified pupils that require additional support within subjects such as English, Maths or Science
  • Supporting the class teacher and covering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher
  • Delivering intervention sessions to raise pupil attainment
  • Possibility of supporting students with learning difficulties and pupils who display challenging behaviour
  • Promoting positive behaviour management

Our client schools are located across Bury, Bolton, Wigan and Salford and are easily accessible from the surrounding areas of Greater Manchester. For candidates who do not drive, there are several public transportation links with access to the surrounding areas of Greater Manchester.
