Graduate Teaching Assistant

Job description

A school in Stockport is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join the support staff team.

Requirements for this role are as follows:

  • A degree.
  • Aspirations of becoming a full time teacher, or developing a long term career within the education sector.
  • Experience working with large groups of children across a wide range of ages and abilities.

This presents itself as the ideal opportunity for a graduate to gain school experience before a PGCE or related training course.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, the role will involve:

  • Working on a small group and individual basis with students with SEN, as well as those who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Providing consistent support within the classroom to teaching staff, across a variety of different subjects.
  • Creating action plans for individual pupils, as well as working in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Implementing strategies that motivate and inspire students to work to the best of their ability.
  • Creating positive working relationships with students, as well as with other staff.
  • Ensuring students adhere to school policies at all times (these relate to behavioural expectations as well as Covid-19 protocols)
  • Working as part of the wider support staff team, looking to deliver the school’s vision for pupils.

Pay for this role will range between GBP275 - GBP350 per week, dependant on the candidates prior experience.

  • Located in Stockport, the school is a short distance away from Manchester city centre.
  • There are several transport links located close by (Bus, Metrolink, Train) as well as the M60 motorway located in close proximity of the school site.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
