Year 1: Paid School Experience | Year 2: Salaried Teacher Training Route

About the Programme
This route is designed for graduates who want to explore teaching before committing fully to a PGCE or similar course. It provides a supportive transition into the profession, combining practical classroom experience with professional development and formal training.
Year 1: Classroom Experience (Cover Supervisor Role)
- Work in a Bournemouth secondary school in a Cover Supervisor role
- Supervise classes when teachers are absent, ensuring students complete pre-set work
- Gain confidence in classroom management and behaviour support
- Focus on developing skills—no lesson planning or marking required
- Build strong relationships with staff and students ahead of teacher training
Year 2: Salaried Teacher Training
- Transition into a salaried Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme with the same school or trust
- Work toward Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while being fully supported by mentors
- Earn a salary while you train, combining classroom teaching with professional study
- Opportunity to gain a PGCE alongside QTS in a familiar and supportive environment
