Are you a graduate thinking of a career in education?

Have you applied for a PGCE but would like to gain experience in schools before the course starts?

Or perhaps you would like to gain experience to help support a future PGCE application?

Teaching Personnel East Midlands are excited to announce our 'Future Teacher' programme, aimed at supporting graduates thinking about a career in education.

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a number of successful secondary schools throughout Derby and Nottingham who are seeking graduates to work on a teacher training placement. You will spend up to year working in a school to gain experience and help decide if this is the right career choice for you.

What is the 'Future Teacher' programme?

By joining the Future Teacher programme you will be placed into a school for a placement that can last up to a year, and this will be paid experience! You can earn between £57-£67 a day depending on your qualifications and experience. The working hours for the placement will be weekdays, with school hours normally between 8.30am-3.30pm.

During the placement you will take on a full and active role in the school experiencing a number of roles and responsibilities such as Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Intervention Support and many more! You will also have the opportunity to take on a small teaching timetable and taking part in classroom observations of lessons. You will have hands on experience of supporting students in your chosen specialist subject that will prepare you for the teacher training placements you will undertake on the PGCE.

As well as learning the basics of teaching, if you are into sports, music or any other interesting hobbies you may also have the opportunity to set up and run an extra-curricular club in the school!

Why join the 'Future Teachers' programme?

Teacher training can be very challenging at times, and PGCE drop out rates are high. Teaching Personnel hope that by giving you paid experience in a school you will go into your PGCE so much more informed, with enhanced learning abilities and knowledge.

Whilst on the placement you will be supported by other members of staff in the school but also ongoing support from your own personal Teaching Personnel educational consultant. You will also have access to many CPD programmes to help enhance your learning.

How can I qualify for the programme?

  • You will be educated to degree level
  • You will also be a highly motivated individual who is passionate about teaching

Whilst previous experience working in schools isn't essential, you will need to demonstrate the ability to build professional relationships with both adults and students. Experience working/volunteering with children in some capacity is desirable.

This is an opportunity not to be missed. If you are interested please apply below with a copy of your CV and covering letter explaining why you believe you are suitable for the post.
