We are currently searching for a Psychology Graduates to work in an SEN school. The school caters for pupils aged 11-16 many with autistic spectrum disorder and some with physical and language difficulties. As a member of staff within this school you would be involved with classes of between 5-9 pupils with at least one other member of staff also in the room. The curriculum taught has been devised by the school to meet the needs of all pupils regardless of age and is linked as much as possible to the national curriculum.

The successful teaching assistant for this post will be a Psychology Graduate and as a result will have a good theoretical understanding of special educational needs. You must also be a confident and a resilient teaching assistant who holds a genuine desire to help young people with SEN achieve.

Your role at the school would be to assist the class teacher and possibly support other TA’s in the room throughout the school day. Your main duties will include helping pupils with their work, assistance in group work activities, providing an alternative environment for the pupils to work to promote the pupils progress and help them reach their full potential.

 In addition, you will need to complete all necessary vetting checks including proof of identity, a DBS on the Update Service and producing two recent references.
