Geography Cover Supervisor - Inspire Curiosity & Support Future Explorers

Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Start: Long‑term supply with potential to go permanent

Are you passionate about Geography and keen to share that enthusiasm with young people? A well‑respected foundation school in Farnborough known for its strong community values and commitment to developing confident, engaged learners is seeking a dedicated Geography Cover Supervisor to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves Geography and wants to support students in a dynamic secondary environment. The role begins on a long‑term supply basis with excellent potential to become permanent.

Why This School?

This forward‑thinking school is proud to offer:

  • A broad, engaging Humanities curriculum across KS3–KS4
  • A strong focus on enrichment, including Geography‑related clubs and trips
  • Excellent SEND provision and an inclusive approach to learning
  • A reputation for high behaviour standards, personal development and community ethos
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team, particularly within Humanities

If you want to make a difference in a school where students are valued and curiosity is encouraged, this is the ideal setting.

The Role

As a Geography Cover Supervisor, you will play an essential role in supporting the Humanities department by:

  • Delivering pre‑prepared Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Supervising classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring a positive and focused learning environment
  • Encouraging students’ engagement in geographical topics such as landscapes, ecosystems, globalisation and climate issues
  • Supporting learners of all abilities to stay on task
  • Using your passion for Geography to spark curiosity and maintain high expectations
  • Stepping in to support other Humanities subjects when required
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to uphold department values and routines

This is an excellent stepping‑stone for aspiring Geography teachers or anyone keen to build experience within a subject‑specific setting.

About You - The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong interest or background in Geography (degree, A‑level or relevant experience)
  • Is confident and proactive when leading a classroom
  • Can manage behaviour positively and build respectful relationships
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Can adapt to different classes and year groups
  • Is passionate about helping young people learn and explore the world around them
  • Is comfortable supporting students with additional needs

No QTS is required, making this a perfect role for aspiring teachers, Geography graduates, or individuals looking to grow within education.

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Long‑term supply position with potential for a permanent contract
  • Full‑time, Monday–Friday
  • Term‑time only
  • Holiday pay included
  • Access to regular CPD, including subject‑specific and classroom‑management training
