Full-Time Welsh-Medium Year 2 Teaching Assistant – Leckwith, Cardiff (CF11) – Start ASAP!

Location: Leckwith, Cardiff (CF11)
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30 (Monday to Friday, term time only)
Pay: £89.38 per day (paid weekly)
Start Date: Immediate (September 2025)

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker passionate about supporting young children in a Welsh-medium primary school? Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to work full-time in a Year 2 class in a warm and welcoming school in Leckwith (CF11).

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the classroom while promoting the Welsh language and culture within early years and Key Stage 1 education.

‍ About the Role:

As a Year 2 TA in a Welsh-medium setting, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging, play-based, and curriculum-aligned learning experiences. You’ll support pupils with day-to-day tasks, group activities, and one-to-one interventions – all through the medium of Welsh.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Welsh-language teaching and learning across the curriculum
  • Assisting with small group work and 1:1 support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and phonics
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in line with school values
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and maintain a stimulating learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) if required
  • Promoting learning through play, outdoor activities, and creative tasks
  • Maintaining a safe, caring and inclusive classroom atmosphere

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is fluent in Welsh (spoken and written) – essential
  • Has experience working with children in a primary or early years setting (school or childcare)
  • Is confident supporting learners in a Welsh-medium environment
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about education
  • Holds a current DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply)
  • Can commit to full-time, term-time work (Monday to Friday)
