A school in Stockport is looking for a Food Technology teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis. With Covid-19 forcing secondary schools into closure, this presents itself as the ideal opportunity for a Food technology teacher to secure themselves long-term, consistent work.
The required applicant will hold:
- QTS
- A degree within the realm of Food Technology or a related subject is very desirable.
- Experience in delivering high quality Food Technology lessons up to GCSE Level.
Aspects of this role:
- Being able to demonstrate basic principles related to storage of food, cross contamination and general cleaning, as well as good health and safety practice.
- Being able to manage behaviour expectations in line with school policy, as well as work in line with recommendations made by Ofsted.
- Ensuring all students are adhering to school policy as best as possible.
- Managing any pastoral issues that may arise.
- Deliver feedback on overall student progresss/attainment, to other teaching staff/senior leaders and parents whenever necessary.
- Instilling a school culture focused on the benefits of cooking, as well as the importance of healthy eating.
- Managing student workloads, whilst ensuring that all of the needs of students are met, including those with SEN/EAL requirements.
- Working with students on both an individual and group basis.
The position will start in September 2020, and will run for the full academic year.
Additionally, it is essential that the required individual:
- Is able to successfully differentiate work set.
- Can offer alternatives to students who may struggle in applying themselves to specific taks.
- Is extremely well versed when it comes to delivering national curriculum.
There may be an expectancy for the applicant to also act as a form tutor.

- Located in Stockport, the school is a short distance from Manchester city centre.
- There are several motorway links within close proximity of the school site.
- There are numerous public transpot links also located close by.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
