Flexible Support Staff

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit flexible support staff for a number of our key client schools in and around the Wigan LEA for support roles starting in January 2019.

If you are an experienced member of staff or someone who is looking for an introduction to an exciting role within aWigan based secondary school then we wish to hear from you immediately.

Please see below roles that we are currently recruiting for;

Behaviour Support Assistant

  • Primarily responsible for the management of behaviour of individual students throughout the school day whilst promoting good behaviour practice to other students throughout the school.
  • Supporting individual pupils who display challenging behaviour, in and out of lessons.
  • Working with pupils within the schools inclusion centre on a 1-to-1 basis and in small groups to promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Flexible and long term job opportunities

SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Supporting identified pupils and pupils on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) on a 1:1 basis
  • Must have a calming nature when working alongside students with SEN needs and be able to identify and defuse stressful situations before they escalate.
  • Previous experience working with students with Special Education Needs is essential to be considered for this position.
  • Flexible and long term job opportunities

Core Subject - Tutor

  • Extensive subject knowledge is essential; You will be supporting pupils that are behind in their studies helping to raise attainment and bridge the gaps between them and their peers
  • Deliver 1:1 support sessions on your specialist subject to students on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and deliver pre-planned lessons to low achieving pupils.
  • You must be confident in your teaching and be able to motivate students, as you will be working with students ranging in ability who may otherwise struggle to engage in class.
  • Flexible and long term job opportunities

General Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor

  • Working with children on a 1:1 basis providing tuition and supporting the learning of students that require additional support.
  • Helping the class teacher control noise levels and behaviour during lesson time
  • You will lead small intervention sessions with students that are behind in work.
  • You will have the opportunity to work within schools as a Cover Supervisor - unqualified teaching if you feel comfortable enough to do so.
