Job Title: Teaching Assistant - EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) - Autism Support

Location: WF10 (School name will be disclosed upon application)

Position Type: Full-time Temporary (Until July 2024)

Salary: £85 - £95 per day (Depending on experience and qualifications)

About the School: We are a vibrant and inclusive school located in WF10, dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to our students. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide tailored support to a child within our Early Years Foundation Stage who has autism.

Job Description: As a Teaching Assistant specializing in autism support within the Early Years Foundation Stage, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the holistic development and well-being of the child you will be supporting. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to the child with autism, assisting them in their academic, social, and emotional development within the classroom environment.
  • Implementing and adapting learning activities and materials to meet the specific needs and learning styles of the child.
  • Assisting with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the child's comfort and dignity at all times.
  • Collaborating closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to the child's needs.
  • Supporting the child during transitions between activities and helping them to engage positively with their peers.
  • Monitoring and recording the child's progress and behavior, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with evidence-based strategies for supporting individuals with autism.
  • Ability to provide personal care assistance to the child, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs support are desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children with diverse needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
