EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant - Bury (M45)

A lovely school in the Whitefield area is currently looking for a teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in the reception class. The pupil has global development delay and is currently working at a much lower level then the other children in the class room. The Head teacher is looking for a nurturing teaching assistant to engage the pupil and provide emotional support. The school has had a large intake of pupils in the EYFS department with a number of pupils with Special Educational Needs. It is essential that the ideal candidate has experience working with SEN pupils previously.

The role of the Teaching Assistant will be to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with severe learning difficulties. The child has been struggling to access the National Curriculum and is also struggling with his speech, language and fine motor skills. The TA will be working with the child in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis to support the pupil's needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous SEN or SEMH experience
  • Knowledge of using PECS
  • Experience utilising SEN and behavioural strategies

This primary school has been graded 'Good' by its previous Ofsted inspection and is averaged sized. The primary school has a very close connection to the local community and has a strong focus on promoting each child's social and emotional growth, self-awareness and self-esteem.

  • Salary between £14,000 - £18,000
  • Start date - 15th April
