English Teacher – Secondary School – Tameside
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
Location: Tameside
Salary: MPS/UPS – £32,916 to £51,047 (based on experience and pay scale)
A well-established secondary school in Tameside is looking to appoint a dynamic and committed English Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This full-time position will involve teaching English Language and Literature to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The school offers a collaborative and inclusive culture with an emphasis on achievement, literacy development, and student wellbeing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum

Use formative and summative assessment data to track and improve student outcomes

Provide feedback that enables students to make measurable progress

Contribute to department schemes of work and extra-curricular provision (e.g. book clubs, drama productions)

Support whole-school literacy initiatives and interventions where necessary
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
-
A degree in English or a related subject

Strong behaviour management and pastoral care capabilities
-
A genuine passion for literature and language
Desirable:
-
Experience teaching AQA or Edexcel exam board content

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
