We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic English Teacher to provide maternity cover from April 2020 to Feb 2021. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Experience of delivering literature and language at A-level would be an advantage; the opportunity for AS and A-Level teaching is available for candidates with the appropriate subject knowledge and capability.
As a teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and well-resourced lessons across all key stages; contributing to departmental planning; monitoring and evaluating student achievement; and contributing to the accomplishment of the college’s vision and mission. As the successful candidate, you will be an outstanding role model within both the English Department and the whole school.
The English Department consists of 8 full-time and 3 part-time teachers who deliver a balanced English programme at Key Stage 3 in line with the English National Curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of our international student body. At Key Stage 4, students follow the syllabus for the Edexcel IGCSE English Language A and English Literature courses. At Key Stage 5, we offer both Edexcel English Literature and Language as international A-levels.
The school has approximately over 900 pupils on roll, and is commended for excellent behaviour of their pupils. The progressions of pupils in the English and Mathematics departments are ‘outstanding’ from the most recent Ofsted report. The school is located in the South of Preston, away from any heavy traffic. It is easily accessible via Chorley, Leyland, Ormskirk and the North of Preston.
