Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist school based in Bradford who are looking to appoint an Early Years Practitioner to join their team. You will be working closely with colleagues to deliver a specially developed curriculum, running on a ‘continuous provision’ basis.

You will have experience working in nursery, foundation stage or Early Years settings and have a desire to support pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school caters for pupils with very specific learning needs such as:

  • Speech and language delay, impairments or disorders
  • Specific learning difficulties
  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties
  • Autistic Spectrum Conditions

Due to the very specific needs of pupils, experience or training in alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton or Intensive Interaction is highly desirable; as is the ability to work within a continuous provision environment, using your initiative to structure sessions and encourage pupils to interact with their environment.

In addition to supporting access to learning, a large part of your role will also include attending to pupils' holistic needs, which will involve supporting with personal care, feeding, interaction and providing emotional support and use of de-escalation strategies. You will have a patient, caring nature and be flexible to meet pupils specific needs. 

We are ideally seeking experienced Early Years Practitioners but also we will also welcome applications from individuals with training in Social Care, Youth or Community Work or Early Childhood Studies. Recent graduates with Education and/or SEN specialisms are also encouraged to apply.
