Job description
Early Career Teacher – Sunderland Secondary Schools
Long-Term Supply, MPS/UPS £32,916 – £51,048, September 2026
Teaching Personnel is recruiting Early Career Teachers across all subjects for long-term supply positions in secondary schools across Sunderland from September 2026. If you're completing your PGCE this summer and looking for the right school to begin your career in, this is worth your attention.
Starting out in a long-term supply position gives you something that's easy to underestimate — consistency. Same school, same students, same colleagues from day one. You'll be able to focus on developing your practice without the instability of day-to-day supply, while Teaching Personnel provides dedicated support alongside your school-based ECT induction.
Sunderland has a broad range of secondary schools across mainstream and specialist settings, and Teaching Personnel works closely enough with them to match you to somewhere that genuinely suits your subject, your style, and where you want your career to go.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning and delivering lessons across KS3 and KS4 in your subject specialism
- Assessing student progress and adapting your teaching to meet the needs of all learners
- Maintaining high expectations of behaviour and classroom management
- Contributing to departmental planning and whole-school events
- Completing your ECT induction with school and Teaching Personnel support
- Upholding the school's safeguarding responsibilities
To be considered:
- QTS or on track to achieve it by September 2026
- A degree in your subject specialism
- Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to your development as a teacher
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
What Teaching Personnel offers:
- MPS/UPS salary — £32,916 to £51,048 depending on experience
- Weekly pay via PAYE
- Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
- Free CPD and Early Career development
- Opportunities for permanent employment
Contract: Long-term supply, Start: September 2026, Location: Sunderland
