EAL Specialists Required for Newham Secondary Schools

There are over 150 different languages spoken in Newham, and over 65% of it's population speak English as an additional language. Some schools have up to 90% EAL pupils, and the average school will have at least 65% of it's cohort with English as a second language. As a borough, Newham schools have some of the highest demand for EAL teachers and teaching assistants in London.

Teaching Personnel raises levels of attainment amongst EAL pupils by working with schools to organise in class support and small group sessions to help improve speaking, reading and writing levels.

There are a variety of roles that will appeal to a wide range of EAL specialists. This also includes EAL class teaching and after school tuition.

The qualifications and experience that schools look for are as follows: CELTA/TEFL Qualifications, English Degrees, Bi/Multi Lingual Speakers, Teaching Assistant Qualifications, and Languages Degrees. A passion for education and a willingness to help young people is also key.
