Teacher of Drama opportunity

Fixed term contract

Drama teacher required to take on a full contract teaching practical and theoretical aspects of the Drama curriculum for a temporary fixed term contract until January 2021 at a minimum.

This growing co-educational secondary school is a 'Good' in terms of its most recent Ofsted and SIAMS inspection. It continues to build good relationships between pupils and staff and is continuing to improve ints progress and attainment scores with attentive teachers and support staff who consistently encourage, inspire and motivate pupils to exceed their own expectations. 

The department are able to support an NQT for this position or welcome applications from a more experienced practitioner. Though your position will be temporary, it is important to the school that you are integrated into their community and take on the values and ethos that the school holds throughout your time with them. The school have a lagre proportion of EAL students, pupil premium and SEN and therefore have extensive intervention programmes and specialist support staff in place. All staff focus upon pupils as individuals and are driven to allow pupils to challenge themselves in their learning to achieve the best outcomes and develop as members of the wider community. 

Applicants for this role will be short-listed if they meet the following criteria:

  • Achieved QTS status or overseas equivalent
  • Experience teaching the UK curriculum from teaching practise at a minimum 
  • Availability to commit full time to the school from September 2020 - January 2021
  • The passion and drive to work with pupils with a wide variety of needs 

This school is consistently over subscribed and is currently undergoing work to expand to accommodate more pupils. The school's leadership team has been highlighted as supportive with a forward thinking direction. The school are now well developed in their plans to continue to grow their reputations owing to the appointment of new and encouraging SLT over recent years.

The Drama department currently have 3 full time teaching staff, considered a high number though the school specialise in Performing Arts and in the coming years plan to increase their capacity to teach across Drama, Music, Dance and Design Technology as combined subjects to allow pupils to access all areas within this curriculum. A collaborative approach will benefit pupils by giving them autonomy to chose areas to excel in whilst understanding key aspects of the performing arts industry.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
