Introduction: A highly respected secondary school and sixth form in Hull, rated GOOD by Ofsted, is seeking a Director of Inclusion (SENCo) to join its team permanently from September. About the Role: This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced and visionary educator to lead our SEND team and collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team to enhance our inclusive practices. The Director of Inclusion will be integral to the leadership of SEND, providing outstanding leadership and management to ensure high standards that positively affect student experiences, outcomes, and future opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Strategically lead the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and the removal of learning barriers.
- Foster and lead effective relationships and practices among staff, students, and parents to address the academic and pastoral needs of students with SEND.
- Drive the school's Reading Recovery Strategy and contribute to overall school improvement with a focus on inclusion as part of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT).
- Uphold and promote the school's values and ethical leadership standards in all dealings with colleagues, students, and parents.
We Are Looking For:
- A candidate with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience in education leadership, ideally as a Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, or similar.
- A deep understanding of effective educational practices and teaching methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to manage and inspire a team effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
- A strategic thinker with robust problem-solving abilities.
- A dedicated professional committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
