Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Location: Birmingham, B10
Contract Type: Full-time, Ongoing Position (via Teaching Personnel)
Start Date: 1st December 2025
Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a well-established school in the B10 area of Birmingham to recruit an experienced and committed Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong safeguarding expertise and a genuine commitment to pupil welfare. The successful candidate will take the lead on all safeguarding and child protection matters, ensuring that the school remains a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies, you will uphold the highest standards of care, confidentiality, and professionalism in every aspect of safeguarding practice.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the safeguarding and child protection strategy across the school.

Act as the main point of contact for all safeguarding concerns, disclosures, and referrals.

Deliver and coordinate safeguarding training for staff.

Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records.

Liaise effectively with local authorities, social care, and other relevant external agencies.

Support the creation of a school culture that prioritises safety, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Requirements:
-
Proven experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy DSL within an educational setting.

Up-to-date DSL training and an in-depth knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

The ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.

A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
