Due to an upcoming gap in the Technology department, our partner school based in Oldham are seeking to appoint a Design and Technology Teacher from September 2019. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and popular school in Oldham who have recently been rated 'Good' again by Ofsted in 2018. Initially on a temporary 12 month contract, the incoming Design and Technology Teacher will have a great opportunity to earn a permanent contract at our partner school due to a strong working relationship.

  • Part time role considered for the perfect candidate
  • 12 month temporary contract initially
  • Opportunity of a permanent contract at our 'Good' partner school
  • Short drive from M60 motorway
  • Pay in line with MPS and UPS (£23,720-£39,406)

Our partner school is located in the leafy area of Greenfield, and is a popular mixed comprehensive secondary school that have consistently been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted and are constantly improving to make that next step to 'Outstanding'. With over 1300 students enrolled at the school from the surrounding areas of Saddleworth, Mossley and Lees, this oversubscribed partner school has an excellent reputation within the local community due to posting consecutive years of good GCSE results.

"The Design and Technology course enables students to understand and apply iterative design processes through which they explore, create and evaluate a range of outcomes. The course enables students to use creativity and imagination to design and make prototypes (together with evidence of modelling to develop and prove product concept and function) that solve real and relevant problems, considering their own and others' needs, wants and values. It gives students opportunities to apply knowledge from other disciplines, including mathematics, science, art and design, computing and the humanities. The incoming Design and Technology Teacher should be able to plan and deliver highly engaging lessons to coincide with our quality curriculum." Head of Department.

Ideal candidates for this role as a Design and Technology Teacher will have experience of teaching various aspects of Design and Technology including Food Technology and Resistant Materials. The successful candidate will undertake full departmental responsibilities of planning and marking, with the most of the planning being completed collaboratively during departmental time. Experience of teaching and Design and Technology to both KS3 and KS4 is desirable, and prospective candidates should hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within the UK, as well as relevant qualifications. Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) are encouraged to apply as the school have a bespoke and supportive programme for NQTS, along with a structured CPD course throughout the academic year.
