Cover Teacher
Job description
Searching for flexible term-time work?
Enjoy working with young people?
Keen to gain valuable school-based experience?
Teaching Personnel is supporting a number of mainstream secondary schools across Newcastle, North Tyneside, and Northumberland, and we’re looking to add reliable Ad Hoc Supply Teachers to our team. We have opportunities for general day-to-day cover as well as longer-term placements.
Whether you’re unqualified but eager to learn, an ECT, or a seasoned teacher wanting to build your network and keep your weeks flexible, we can offer consistent work that fits around your availability.
Why join us?
- Choose your schedule - from 2 days a week up to full-time supply
- A mix of same-day assignments and advanced bookings
- Competitive daily rates: £120–£160, depending on experience and qualifications
- Long-term roles paid to scale from day one
- Weekly PAYE pay
- Support from your own dedicated consultant
- Access to an online portal with an interactive availability diary
- £50 refer-a-friend bonus
What you’ll be doing
Your duties will vary between schools, but typically include:
- Setting up the classroom for lessons
- Delivering pre-prepared work to classes
- Keeping students focused and engaged
- Offering support to pupils who need a little extra help
- Tidying the classroom after lessons
Because some roles arise at short notice, having your own transport is beneficial.
Who can apply?
We welcome:
- Candidates with prior experience in education or care
- Individuals seeking their first step into a school-based career
- Qualified teachers wanting part-time or flexible work (especially in demand)
If you’re approachable, adaptable, and enjoy supporting young people, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
